Predictive programming is something you must have come across at least once but what if we are dealing with something that was in fact predictively programmed. Books, movies, TV-shows or any form of entertainment could be used as an effective method to cast a spell on the public, a public that wouldn't essentially be aware. Anything that we see opens up a realm that makes us process the unfathomable. This ultimately could be used to develop the favourable result. Predictive programming could also be a method to brainwash the people. I came across predictive programming instances of 9/11 and that made me think what if the crisis that we face today, the corona virus is another case.
Writers often create a dystopian society or work on fiction which is considered normal but what if such a fiction came into reality. 'The Eyes of Darkness' by Dean Koontz is work of fiction. In the book, the virus that was fictitiously named 'Wuhan-400' was man-made and possibly a bio weapon. Now I'll quote the exact words by a character called Dombey- "To understand that, you have to go back twenty months. It was around then that a Chinese scientist named Li Chen defected to the United States, carrying a diskette record of China's most important and dangerous new biological weapon in a decade. They call the stuff 'Wuhan-400' because it was developed at their RDNA labs outside the city of Wuhan, and it was the four-hundredth viable strain of man-made microorganisms created at that research center." Well this does resemble a lot like the Corona Virus that the entire world is fighting against. How did Dean Koontz publish this in the 1989 and exactly 30 years later it became a reality? This could all just be a coincidence and I in no way affirm that it is a biological weapon but could it be?
Sylivia Browne had published the book 'The End of Days' in 2008 where she predicted that "In around 2020 a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe, attacking the lungs and the bronchial tubes and resisting all known treatments. Almost more baffling than the illness itself will be the fact that it will suddenly vanish as quickly as it arrived, attack again ten years later, and then disappear completely." It's appalling to see the year mentioned as it's inconceivably accurate. Was she a psychic? I guess we'll never know.
Well this could all be marked as a coincidence and we could set that aside and move onto another instance. Movies are an effective entertainment that offers a crisp plot in a span of 2 to 3 hours. An American movie called 'Contagion' speaks about a virus that spreads from China to the rest of the world. Check the movie out and maybe you could find an uncanny resemblance to our present position. The movie also talks about how it was spread through bats which is a possible host for transmission believed by some virologists.
With the advent of Netflix and many other media-service providers we are exposed to more movies and shows of a multitude of languages than ever before. Korean dramas are extremely popular amongst the youth and one such K-drama is 'My Secret, Terius' which was aired in 2018. Check out episode 10 of season 1 and 53 minutes into the show the protagonist explains about the mutant corona virus outbreak which attacks the respiratory organ. Though the mortality rate specified in the show doesn't entirely represent the actual situation we face today, the show also speaks about the possibility for the corona virus being possibly used as a Chinese weapon.
The Simpsons are considered to be the kings of predictive programming. From showing Donald Trump being the President of the United States to the greatest tragedy of all times, the 9/11, it wouldn't be surprising to know that they had predicted the corona virus. An episode that was aired in 1993, a viral flu was shown but it had originated from Osaka, Japan than from China. The details specified mirrors the world predicament.
The novel corona virus has affected over 2.2 million people and counting with the death toll reaching up to 150,000. Whether this virus is a bio-weapon or not is just based on theories and does not have any factual basis but who knows what's out there? Who knows if all of this just a coincidence or not? Maybe time will prove everything and until then let's stay inside and stay safe.
