Why

I was arrested

In belief of forging some money

But your acts were just demented

Because you felt my skin was ugly

You pushed your knee on my neck

"I can't breathe", I said

Wishing my kids wouldn't see me dead

And every second my words were slurring

With my vision blurring

Until everything was just black.

Just like I was.

A world where velvet black skies are adored

And black and white coexist only on checkerboards

A world where black attires are chic

But the same on skin is just weak

A world where we wouldn't be seen as thugs

And thrashed onto the ground like bugs

A world where colour wasn't equated to crime

And we wouldn't be disregarded every time

And black skin isn't hideous

With the law not invidious.
